Calgary police's homicide unit was on scene investigating a suspicious death in Winston Heights Sunday afternoon.

Police said they were initially called to the home, which is located at 405 28th Avenue N.E., for a welfare check at 12:30 p.m.

A man in his 50s was found dead inside.

"We're still gathering information, so the scene will be held as long as it takes," said acting Insp. Brian Rayner.

"We don't want to give out anything premature, the investigation is just starting."

Police said no further details will be released until an autopsy is completed later this week.
