Victim succumbs to injuries from alleged drunk-driving crash

A 20-year-old Calgary man injured in a car crash New Year's Day has died of his injuries.

A 20-year-old Calgary man injured in a car crash New Year's Day has died of his injuries.

Francis Pesa was driving a BMW that was hit by a Dodge Ram in the 9600 block of Métis Trail N.E. around 6 p.m. MT.

The truck was travelling southbound when it crossed the centre line and sideswiped two cars, including the one Pesa was travelling in.

The Dodge Ram was then struck by a 2011 Buick Enclave travelling northbound on Métis Trail with four passengers. 

Pesa and his girlfriend were both injured. He passed away on Monday.

The 36-year-old driver of the Dodge truck is already facing impaired driving charges. Police say the charge is likely to be upgraded to impaired driving causing death.
