RCMP are investigating a suspicious death after a man's body was found on a road near Springbank Airport on Sunday morning.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday

RCMP are investigating a suspicious death after a man's body was found on a road near Springbank Airport on Sunday morning.

Police responded to a report that a body had been found off a rural road in the area at 8:30 a.m.

The death was deemed suspicious and the forensic identification unit remained on scene investigating as of Sunday mid-afternoon, police said in an emailed release.

Police have blocked off a portion of Range Road 40 north of Township Road 250, about a few kilometres west of the airport and the under-development community of Harmony.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Police are working to confirm the man's identity, and will provide an update following the autopsy.

Springbank Airport is located on the northwest outskirts of Calgary.
