A skier was seriously injured in an avalanche Friday after crossing a boundary rope at Sunshine Village.
Park officials say the man walked out onto an overhang, beyond the boundary rope on Goat's Eye Mountain, causing the ridge to fail and creating a size 2 avalanche.
The man fell around 550 metres but was found on the surface of the debris.
The man was evacuated from the scene by Alpine Helicopters and then later transferred to the Foothills hospital by STARS.
STARS says the man is in serious, but stable condition.
This is the second incident reported at Sunshine Village this week. On Monday, a snowboarder died after colliding with a tree on a beginner's' run at the ski resort..
