Steve Martin is making a trip to our fair city to help raise funds for Contemporary Calgary.

The group's goal is to establish a full-fledged modern and contemporary art gallery in Calgary.

The noted comedian, author and musician will be talking about Canadian art with writer Adam Gopnik of The New Yorker magazine.

Martin is a longtime art collector and co-curated the touring exhibition The Idea of North: The Paintings of Lawren Harris, which features 30 pieces from iconic Canadian landscape artist Lawren Harris.

Martin and Gopnik will be featured guests at Contemporary Calgary's LOOK2016 fundraising event on Oct. 22.

Tickets range from $500 to $2,000, although a limited number has been set aside for $95 for those under the age of 35. The money raised will pay for renovations of new exhibition space, located in the former Centennial Planetarium otherwise known as the old science centre.
