Former Calgary MP Jim Prentice was coy Thursday about his expected run for the leadership of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party.

"Stay tuned," said Prentice outside the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) annual general meeting in Calgary.

"There are a lot of things happening, but in the days ahead I will have a great deal more to say about that and a great deal more to say about the province."

Prentice was re-elected to serve another term on CPR's board. He would remain as a member while running for the PC leadership but will have to resign the board position if he wins.

While the former federal cabinet minister remained vague about his future, railway CEO Hunter Harrison was more forthcoming.

"We've had conversations about it, it's no secret, I mean he walks in the room and people say 'congratulations,'" he said.

This week CBC News reported that insiders say Prentice is putting together a team for the leadership race to replace Alison Redford.

Voting procedure settled

The Alberta PC party has unanimously approved the use of electronic voting options such as online and mobile phones
to select its next leaders.

The election committee says it wants to enable as many Albertans as possible to be part of the process to select the new leader.

The leadership convention will be held in September.
