2 men charged in stabbing at northwest Calgary LRT station
Victim was assaulted at Dalhousie CTrain stop on Monday
Calgary police have charged two men in connection with a stabbing at a northwest Calgary LRT station earlier this week.
On Monday at about 3:40 p.m., officers were called to the Brentwood CTrain stop for reports of a man suffering from stab wounds, police said in a release.
Officers determined the man had been assaulted at the Dalhousie station. He was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Calgary Transit officials helped police identify and track two suspects. One was located at a nearby strip mall and the other was seen getting on a bus.
Both men were arrested less than 30 minutes after the assault, police said.
It's believed the victim and two suspects were involved in a dispute prior to the assault and that they knew each other.
Calvin Eugene Goertzen, 53, of Calgary is now charged with assault with a weapon, failing to comply with release conditions and breach of a probation order.
Hartland Zackery Holloway, 40, of Calgary, is charged with one count of assault.
They're both set to appear in court on March 16.
Police thanked Calgary Transit for its assistance in the investigation.
