Whether you've got any Irish blood or not, St. Patrick's Day is an open invitation to revel in some of the best of the Emerald Isle — from food to beer, music and dance.

Here are seven ways to get your green on and celebrate the luck of the Irish in Calgary. 

Irish brekkie and $3 sleeves at Jamesons

​Start your St. Patrick's Day with a hearty Irish breakfast of wedge potatoes, scrambled eggs, corned beef and cabbage. The meal will cost you $6, and you can wash it down with a 12-ounce sleeve of Guinness or Alexander Keith's special for the early bird price of $3.

Irish cooking 101

Master the art of a traditional beer vinaigrette, bangers and mash with Guinness gravy, and Irish pudding with the help of chefs at ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen. 

When: Thursday, noon to 1 p.m., $20 per person

Fight of the Irish

The mighty leprechauns are back to battle it out in the Cowboys ring for a St. Paddy's Day special. Watch the Midget Wrestling Warriors battle it out. The early match starts at 4:30 p.m. and the second match at 8:30 p.m.

When: Thursday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., $10 per person

Where: Cowboys Dance Hall, 421 12th Ave., S.E.

Irish Cultural Centre

Celebrate the best of Irish music, dancing, food, drink — and of course the craic  — at the Calgary Irish Cultural Centre. Traditional Irish musicians and singers from Ireland and Scotland will perform, with free face-painting and cookie decorations for the little ones. Wearing of the green is not compulsory but encouraged.

When: Thursday, 5 p.m. to late, $10 per person, or $5 for members. Kids get in free

Green beer and green fuels

Enjoy some green beer and learn about how green biofuels are made at the TELUS Spark. You can even find out how far your body fat could power a car.

When: Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m.

St. Patrick's Day Mass

Take part in the Feast Day of St. Patrick at St. Mary's Cathedral followed by potluck-style lunch. If you plan to stay for the food, the organizers ask you contribute a tray of sandwiches, treats, squares or muffins.

When: Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

Calgary's Farmer Market

The Calgary Farmer's Market is going even greener than usual! The Coshquin School of Irish Dance will perform at 11 a.m., and special kids activities will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

When: Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
