Bodies of 2 missing boaters recovered at Spray Lakes

Authorities have identified the bodies of two deceased males as the missing boaters whose boat capsized at Spray Lakes on Sunday.

Two more bodies have been recovered from a lake in Kananaskis Country after a boat capsized on Sunday.

Four people were in the boat near the Spray Lakes Campground when they ended up in the water. One was able to swim to safety, and another was confirmed dead at the scene. Two were missing.

On Tuesday, RCMP said they had found the body of a man in Spray Lakes on Monday afternoon and were continuing to search for the other missing boater.    

On Wednesday, RCMP confirmed a search team had recovered the body of the second missing boater on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased male was found around 4 p.m. 

It's unclear what caused the boat to capsize.

Kananaskis Emergency Services, Alberta Conservation officers and Canmore RCMP participated in the search efforts. 

Police have not released the identities of the boaters.
