Vulcan residents get 1st peek at new Canada Post Spock stamp
Canada Post unveiled the stamp to about 40 residents in a ceremony Friday
Canada Post is hoping a new stamp of Star Trek's Mr. Spock could be just the trick to allow snail mail to live long and prosper. Residents of the Alberta town of Vulcan got to see it first in a ceremony Friday.
The mayor of Vulcan, Tom Grant, said about 40 people showed up to the tourist centre to have a look.

"It really looks nice. It is well done," Grant said.
"It really depicts Spock and it looks really nice."
The town — about 130 kilometres southeast of Calgary — got a permanent plaque of the new stamp showing Leonard Nimoy as Spock in the original Star Trek science fiction TV series that ran in the late 1960s.
The stamp is the third in a series by Canada Post to honour the 50th anniversary of the show, and spokesperson Phil Legault said there is more to come.
"Keep an eye on the stars over the next few weeks for more Star Trek stamp sightings," Legault said.
Nimoy visited the Alberta town in 2010 to celebrate Vulcan's status as the "Official Star Trek capital of Canada."
The actor, author and director died early last year of end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
