Southeast ready to lobby for C-Train
A group of southeast Calgary residents is promising a vigorous campaign to get a C-Train line built in their part of the city.
The group's inaugural meeting Thursday night only brought out a few dozen people, but organizer Doug Hayden managed to attract speakers from the city, the province and the federal government.
Hayden is promising to capture public attention by using e-mails, and websites and social media.
"It's just been put on the side, put on the backburner for too long so we've just got to keep the pressure on to get this east LRT line going," he said.
The local alderman, Shane Keating, supports the project.
"The southeast has to go forward as the next project without question. A real number one, not just a number one project in many people's minds," he said.
Hayden says he would like to see a southeast C-Train line open up by 2017.
