Drive-by shooting east of Calgary leaves 39-year-old man dead, 39-year-old woman hospitalized
RCMP said they located the suspect's vehicle fully engulfed in flames later that evening
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over an investigation in a hamlet east of Calgary after a drive-by shooting left one man dead and one woman in hospital.
At 4:31 p.m on Friday, Langdon RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a shooting outside a home in the hamlet — located about 37 kilometres east of Calgary.
One victim, a 39-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victim, a 39-year-old female, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both the man and the woman were shot outside of a home in the area.
RCMP said they have no suspects in custody, but a vehicle they believe was involved was destroyed after the shooting.
"The suspect vehicle that we believe was involved was located later on in the evening, fully engulfed in flames," said Cpl. Lacey Blair.
Blair said she didn't know when exactly the vehicle was found.
RCMP said that this appears to be a targeted event and there is no risk to the public.
