Traffic backed up eastbound on the Trans-Canada Highway after a semi-trailer truck jackknifed Thursday morning just east of the Lake Louise turnoff.

One driver reported to CBC the backup of trucks waiting was about two kilometres long.

The highway reopened at noon.

Alberta 511 reports it happened near the Temple Lookout.

It says some drivers were rerouted to Highway 1A, but expects others could have been delayed up to three hours.

511 says the Trans-Canada Highway is snow covered and the shoulders have snow and ice.
