Calgary police say they are investigating the brazen theft of a poppy box that was caught on surveillance video.

Investigators say the theft happened around 2 p.m. MT Thursday.

A man went into the liquor store located in the 5200 block of Richmond Road S.W. and grabbed the poppy box before fleeing.

The theft is still under investigation. Police say they may use facial recognition software in the case.

There have already been several cases of poppy box theft reported this season.
