Police investigating New Year's Day slayings seeking 2 vehicles
Calgary police have released descriptions of two vehicles seen in the area of a fatal triple shooting at a Vietnamese restaurant on New Year's Day.
Three people were killed after two men opened fire on Jan. 1 in the Bolsa Vietnamese restaurant at Macleod Trail and 94th Street S.E. In a bid to generate tips, police said Wednesday they're looking for a newer-model silver Mazda 3 car and a newer-model silver four-door Toyota truck.
"Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed these vehicles being driven in a suspicious manner in and around the area of the shooting on the day of the offence."
Police said two gunmen targetted two men and a woman sitting at a table in the restaurant. Sanjeev Mann, 22, a Calgary man who was a known gang member, was killed, along with Aaron Bendle, 21, also of Calgary.
"Most people are aware that any gang-related homicide has its difficulties. And one of the biggest difficulties is reaching out to people and convincing them … to come forward with information," said Staff Sgt. Patty McCallum.
Keni Su'a, an innocent bystander, was confronted by a third suspect before being gunned down by the original two shooters in the restaurant's parking lot.
"That is something we feel would be important enough that people would consider that factor and not buy into it's OK to just keep a closed view on what's going on with gang violence," said McCallum. "It's now affected someone outside of that, so it's their responsibility to think about that, because next time it could be somebody else closer to them.
"We have no doubt that there are people out there who have information about this crime, and we're urging them to come forward,"
