Alberta RCMP lay charges after 30-year-old sexual assault allegations surface
Offences against four victims allegedly took place in 1980s and 1990s
Alberta RCMP have charged a man after receiving multiple allegations of sexual assaults that took place 30 years ago.
RCMP in Picture Butte, about 200 kilometres southeast of Calgary, were contacted in September 2016 by a woman who said that as a child she was sexually abused.
Three additional female victims came forward with similar allegations.
Police said that all of the offences allegedly took place in the 1980s and 1990s, and the female victims were known to the accused.
On Tuesday, police arrested Marvin (Ross) Harker, 49, of Raymond, Alta.
He faces charges of sexual interference.
Harker has been released on the condition that he has no contact with anyone under the age of 18.
"While our investigation is now concluded, it is possible that other victims are out there," Sgt. Tom Howell said in a release.
Howell asked that anyone who has information pertaining to this case contact their local RCMP detachment.
Harker is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Feb. 7.
