Northland Mall violent attempted robbery prompts Calgary police to ask for help

Calgary police want the public's help in finding a person of interest in connection with a violent attempted robbery at the Northland Mall in July.

Calgary police want the public's help in finding a person of interest in connection with a violent attempted robbery.

Police say the attack happened on July 11 in the Northland Mall parking lot.

A man was walking to his vehicle when he was approached by a stranger claiming that his car had a flat tire. The robber then got in the victim's car and tried to rob him at gunpoint.

When an eyewitness intervened, a second suspect attempted to run over him with a different vehicle.

Police say the victim of the attempted robbery was assaulted before both suspects ran off.

Both the victim and witness were treated for minor injuries.

Police are looking for a person caught on a nearby surveillance camera. They say this person may have taken part in the attempted robbery and they want to talk to him.

The person is described as a white or Arabic male between the ages of 25 and 35, approximately six feet in height, with a slim build.
