Mylan Hicks was a Spartan defensive back and graduated in the spring of 2014 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

According to the university's website, the scholarship was established at the request of his friends and family.
"Mylan was the kind of guy who always had a gleam in his eye and he always brought something good out in you as a person," said head football coach Mark Dantonio in a statement.
"One of the best things you can say about someone is that they're a great teammate and if you listen this week to those who played with Mylan you kept hearing that over and over."
Stampeders win in Hamilton
Hicks, originally from Detroit, signed with the Calgary Stampeders this spring. He was on team's practice roster but never got to appear in a game this season.
The 23-year-old was shot to death outside the Marquee nightclub in the city's southwest on Sept. 25.
Nelson Lugela, 19, is charged with second-degree murder.
The Calgary Stampeders honoured Mylan Hicks Saturday in the best way they knew how — by winning their first game since his death.
The Stamps overtook the Tiger-Cats 36-17 in Hamilton.
