Motorcyclist killed in crash with car in southeast Calgary
Morning commuters warned to avoid route closures at 114th, 90th Avenues and 52nd Street S.E.
A man is dead after his motorcycle collided with the side of a car at an intersection in southeast Calgary this morning.
The collision happened at about 6:15 a.m. at 52nd Street and Dufferin Place S.E.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, hit the passenger side of a car, EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux said in a release.
"The initial paramedic crew immediately requested a second ambulance to the scene for additional resources," he said.
But crews were unable to revive the man and he was declared dead at the scene, Brideaux said.
Routes in the area were closed for several hours, including northbound 52nd Street at 114th Avenue S.E. and the southbound lanes at 90th Avenue.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

It's the second fatal motorcycle crash in the city this week.
