Wedding ring winners chosen in contest started by Calgary musician
Michael Bernard Fitzgerald will sing at winners' wedding
Michael Bernard Fitzgerald has decided whose fingers he'd like to put a ring on.
Three winners have been chosen for the Calgary singer-songwriter's Put a Ring On It contest, where Fitzgerald offered an engagement ring and wedding bands to the best love story after his previous relationship fell apart.
Of the written entries received, it was the tale of Terri-Lynn Lawrence and Matthew Lent from Nova Scotia that captured the prize.
Their love was more than a decade in the making, wrote Lawrence.
"In the mountains of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Matthew Donald Lent told me he loved me," she wrote.
"That he had loved me for 12 years and wanted to be with me. After 12 years, we had finally found each other. I love him more and more and more every day, first as a friend, then as my lover and now as the father of my child."
Along with the engagement ring and wedding bands, Fitzgerald will also perform at the couple's nuptials.
Two other couples — Samantha and Ben from Toronto, and Caitlin Kearns and Luke Ross from Calgary — moved Fitzgerald enough with their stories that he will sing each couple down the aisle.
You don't have to be getting married to hear Fitzgerald perform this summer as he is scheduled to hit the stage during the Calgary Folk Music Festival, running July 21-24.
