Man seriously wounded in daytime shooting
A shooting in Calgary's Beltline area sent a man to hospital with multiple bullet wounds.
Witnesses told CBC News they heard three shots in front of an apartment building in the 1500 block of 6th Street S.W. at about 2 p.m. Monday.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was found slumped in the driver's seat of a grey Ford Windstar minivan, Calgary police Insp. Keith Pollack said.
"There was one person in the van and it was totally premeditated," said one man who said he saw what happened. "They were parked in that alley way. They did it, shot and took off."
Another witness, a woman, said, "I just heard three gunshots and then I looked out and all I could see was a couple of vehicles going down the alley and there was a couple of guys — I don't know, two or three — but they had on black hoodies, black pants and you couldn't see their face," another woman told CBC News.
Calgary paramedics said the man underwent surgery in hospital and is in stable condition.
The block was cordoned off for several hours as police investigated.
