It is believed the man suffered a gun shot wound to his arm, police said in a statement.

Following the incident, witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fleeing the scene. While any suspects have yet to be located, police are asking those who were in the area of 17th Avenue southwest between ninth and 11th street between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. to come forward with information.

"There were lots of people in the area, for sure," a spokesperson told CBC News.

Police were unable to confirm if the shooting on 17th Avenue is related to a shooting earlier in the day in Calgary's Acadia community
