Man charged in connection with Calgary Beltline shooting that left two injured
He was identified after police asked public for help
A 25-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in a Beltline shooting that injured two people on Thursday.
Gabriel Chevry is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of discharging a firearm with intent in a shooting that Calgary Police say hospitalized two people.
At about 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to reports of shots fired at an apartment in the 200 block of 13th Avenue S.W.
According to an earlier news release by police, a man entered one of the units to meet a woman for a date. However, once inside, police say he locked the door of the apartment and began shooting.
A man who was in a bedroom in the unit was struck and injured.
A stray bullet also traveled to a neighbouring apartment injuring a tenant there, read the release.
Both victims were hospitalized and were in stable condition, police said.
Chevry is set to appear in court on Oct. 29.
