Lethbridge police are trying to pick up the scent of two people they say stole $13,000 worth of perfume.

On Tuesday, a man and a woman allgedly targeted several Shoppers Drug Mart stores — on Columbia Boulevard, Mayor Magrath Drive, 26th Avenue and in the Park Place Mall — throughout Lethbridge.

In each case, while the man distracted staff, the woman filled a basket with high-end perfumes and then transferred them to a bag, police said.

"It is believed the female's bag contained a demagnetizing device as security sensors were not set off," reads a news release. "Similar incidents have taken place in other Shoppers Drug Mart stores across the province."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lethbridge Police Service at 403-328-4444.
