Man charged with kidnapping, assault after girlfriend trapped in RV with no food or water

Lethbridge police have charged a man they say kidnapped his girlfriend, brutally assaulted her and trapped her in an RV for two days without food or water.
Police say the 54-year-old man, who is not being named to protect the victim's identity, drove to his girlfriend's home in the southern Alberta city on Friday.
He had previously been ordered to have no contact with the woman after a domestic assault charge.
Police say he forced her into his vehicle, threatened her and drove her to an RV where he assaulted her.
He confined her in the RV for two days without food or water, before driving her home on Sunday and threatening to kill her if she reported what happened.
Police found her after a welfare check on Sunday. She had cracked ribs, extensive bruising on her arm and torso and internal kidney damage.
The man was located and arrested on Sunday.
He's charged with:
- Kidnapping/unlawful confinement.
- Intimidation.
- Assault causing bodily harm.
- Uttering threats to cause bodily harm.
- Breaching a recognizance order.
He's in custody and is set to appear in court on May 7.
