A man from Langdon, Alta., is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of his mother.

The charge comes weeks after RCMP responded to a 911 call on May 26 to a report of an assault at a home in Langdon, a hamlet located about 40 kilometres east of Calgary.

Upon arrival, a 56-year-old woman was found unresponsive at the scene and a 31-year-old man was arrested. The woman was rushed to Calgary hospital but later died.

The RCMP identified the woman as Audra Demolitor.

On Wednesday, police announced they have charged Scott Demolitor, 31, with second-degree murder in relation to the death. The accused is the son of the deceased woman.

Demolitor is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice on June 20 in Strathmore.
