Hanne Meketech's whereabouts before death wanted by RCMP
Death of 69-year-old Coleman woman ruled a homicide last week
The RCMP have released photos of the 69-year-old woman found dead in her home in southern Alberta last week in an effort to enlist the public's help with their investigation.
Hanne Meketech was found dead last week in Coleman, the neighbouring community to Blairmore, which has been rocked by the double homicides of two-year-old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette and her father, Terry Blanchette.
Police will not say if the two cases are linked, and are releasing few details about the case.
"The cause of death is not being released at this time to preserve the integrity of the investigation," RCMP said in a statement.
Officials had said earlier this week they did not believe there was a link, but there are media reports that the grandparents of Derek Saretzky — the suspect in the double homicide in Blairmore — lived next door to Meketech.
She was found dead in her home on Sept. 9 after a concerned neighbour called 911.
An autopsy later concluded her death was a homicide.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is asking anyone with information on Meketech's recent activities or acquaintances to contact police at 403-519-7314 or Crime Stoppers.
