Connie Cooper, who works downtown, spotted the geese Thursday morning in a parking lot at 5th Avenue and 5th Street S,W. — nowhere near the river.
Firefighters spent nearly two hours corralling the geese into a blue recycling cart. They were then released near the Bow River.
“[I'm] very relieved," said Cooper.
"There's lots of traffic down in Calgary at lunch, and they were in a parking lot, and then on a busy street, and it's a really hot day and they didn't have any fresh water or food and they were pretty terrified."
