A downtown protest over the conflict in Gaza got loud and rowdy on Friday.

About 400 or 500 Palestinian supporters were on one side of the street near Calgary City Hall, while a handful of Israeli supporters were on the other, say Calgary police.

Several fights broke out between protesters, but no arrests were made, said police.

Police had to bring in extra officers to keep control of the crowd.
