Teen charged with first-degree murder after stabbing in Forest Lawn

A teen boy has been arrested following a fatal altercation with another teen in Forest Lawn Thursday evening, police say.

Calgary police say a 17-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to a stabbing Thursday evening in the neighbourhood of Forest Lawn. 

Officers were called to the 1300 block of 41 Street S.E. at about 7 p.m. after reports of a fight with a weapon.

At the scene police found another teenager suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds, police said in a release Friday.

He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition where he later died from his injuries. An autopsy has been set for June 10.

In an update released on Saturday, police said the accused will next appear in court on Monday, June 10. He cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

This is Calgary's eighth homicide of 2024.
