Forest Lawn drug house closed following SCAN investigation
51-year-old man charged with drug, weapon offences
A problem drug house in Forest Lawn has been shuttered after complaints from neighbours.
It comes after the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods team — or SCAN — initiated an investigation in October.
Neighbours has raised concerns about drug activity and violence at the house located in the 1800 block of 39th Street southeast.
Police executed a search warrant on Nov. 13 and later issued an eviction order for the residents.
A number of weapons, including a sawed-off shotgun, were seized from the home along with small amounts of crack cocaine.
A 51-year-old man has since been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property, possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order and being unlawfully at-large.
Calgary building inspectors and Alberta Health Services inspected the home two weeks later and determined it wasn't fit for human habitation.
The house has been boarded up and fenced off.
