Firefighters find 2 men dead in burning Calgary home
The bodies of two men were found in a northwest Calgary home that was heavily damaged by fire late Thursday night, emergency officials say.
The bodies of two men were found in a northwest Calgary home that was heavily damaged by fire late Thursday night, emergency officials say.
Firefighters discovered the bodies in a two-storey house in the 1800 block of 1 Street N.W. that was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived at 11:30 p.m.
One man was found in the basement of the home in the Balmoral area, while the other was found on the top floor, the fire department said in a news release.
Five other residents of the home managed to escape the flames while a sixth was away at work.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the department and the arson unit.
A medical examiner has been asked to look at the bodies to confirm their cause of death.
