Fire crews were called just after 5:30 a.m. after flames were spotted coming from one of the units in the 300 block of Evanscreek Court northwest in Evanston.

One home was totally gutted while two units on either side were heavily damaged.

Six units in the complex were evacuated. No one was hurt and the cause is still under investigation.

It will be at least a day before residents will find out when they will be allowed to return to their homes, fire officials say.
