Men claiming to be Enmax employees have tried to get into several Dover homes to do "efficiency checks," the utility company warned in a statement Wednesday.

"We want people to know that anyone attempting to gain entry to a home in this way is not a representative of our company and should not be allowed in," spokesperson Doris Kaufmann Woodcock said.

She said two men have approached several homes in the Calgary neighbourhood.

"They go on to indicate that Enmax previously sent out a letter advising of their visit and therefore must be given access," she explained.

"We want people to know that anyone attempting to gain entry to a home in this way is not a representative of our company and should not be allowed in."

She said Enmax is working with Calgary police on the matter.
