Expect long lineups, delayed flights at Calgary airport
Dozens of flights leaving the Calgary International Airport are being delayed on one of the busiest days of the holiday travel season.
A big snowstorm in southern Ontario is adding to delays and cancellations across the country, especially flights going through the major hub of Toronto's Pearson International Airport.
"So far this morning, travel from Calgary is going very, very well," said Jody Mosley, a spokeswoman with the Calgary Airport Authority.
"We have a very busy terminal because it is one of the busiest travel times of the year but people should definitely look at the [airport's] website or check with their airlines before coming to the airport just to make sure their flights are arriving or departing on time."
Lineups to check in are extremely long. It's taking about half an hour to get through the line for domestic flights at Air Canada, said CBC News reporter John Spittal on Friday afternoon.
According to the airport's website, only three flights have been cancelled departing from Calgary on Friday, but dozens are showing delays of between 30 minutes to up to three hours.
