Multiple collisions reported as dust storm blows across southern Alberta
RCMP are asking drivers to avoid parts of Highway 3
Alberta RCMP say they are responding to multiple collisions west of Taber as high winds created a dust storm that is reducing visibility.
Coaldale RCMP say they responded to numerous collisions on Highway 3 east of Coaldale and west of Taber.
In an alert that has now ended, Alberta Emergency Alert said Highway 3 was closed between Range Road 185 to 190.
Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for several parts of Alberta, warning of strong winds with gusts of up to 110 km/h throughout Monday afternoon.
"Near zero visibility in blowing dust has been observed and is creating hazardous travel conditions. The blowing dust is expected to continue while winds remain strong," the weather agency said.
