Child porn charges laid against Didsbury man after tip from U.S. agency
54-year-old man accused of possessing, accessing and making child pornography available
A man from Didsbury, Alta., has been charged with several child pornography offences after Canadian officials were tipped off by their counterparts in the United States.
Last December, the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa was told by officials at the United States National Center for Missing & Exploited Children that someone with an Alberta IP address uploaded child porn images onto a social media site.
The Southern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit investigated and zeroed in on a man living in Didsbury, about 80 kilometres north of Calgary, said the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) in a release Thursday.
Officers executed a search warrant on the suspect's house on Wednesday, seizing several electronic devices.
John Hollenback, 54, was arrested without incident and charged with possessing and accessing child pornography and making it available, ALERT said.
He was released from custody and is set to make his next court appearance on July 24 in Didsbury Provincial Court.
Anyone with information about the investigation, or any exploitation of a child, is encouraged to contact their local police or cybertip.ca.
