Saretzky appeared via CCTV in a Lethbridge courtroom Friday morning after being found fit to stand trial last November following a psychiatric examination.
He was arrested in the Crowsnest Pass in southwestern Alberta after police found 27-year-old Terry Blanchette dead in his Blairmore home on Sept. 14.
A widespread Amber Alert was issued for his daughter, Hailey, whose remains were discovered in a rural area the next day.
Saretzky is also charged with committing an indignity to the little girl's body. He remains in custody in Calgary.
