Olympic speedskater Denny Morrison has been fined $155 for an accident which saw his motorcycle crash into a Toyota Corolla with enough force to flip the car on its side.

Staff Sgt. Paul Stacey with the Calgary Police Service, who did not identify Morrison, has confirmed that after consulting with the Crown, the motorcyclist involved in the May 7 crash has been charged with failing to yield at a yellow light.

The four-time Olympic medallist fractured his femur in the accident and had surgery to insert a metal rod into his leg in order to stabilize the bone.

Two women in their 20s were in the Toyota, but did not sustain injuries.
