Calgary police investigate whether drugs or alcohol played role in 32-year-old man's death
The man who was killed by a CTrain Monday had fallen between cars while the train was stopped at a station, police say.
Then the train began to roll out of the 7th Street S.W. station, giving him life-threatening injuries as it dragged him a short distance, police said.
The man later died at the Foothills hospital. Police didn't identify him publicly but said he was 32.
Police said Tuesday that excessive speed wasn't a factor in the death but they were still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
On Monday, transit service downtown was significantly impacted as a result of the collision, with Calgary Transit shutting down trains through the area.
Later in the evening, regular service resumed.
