Collision claims life of 1 man on highway west of Calgary

One man is dead following a serious collision Friday afternoon on Highway 1A.

One man is dead following a serious collision Friday afternoon on Highway 1A.

Cochrane RCMP and an RCMP collision analyst are still on the scene of the two-vehicle collision approximately 26 kilometres west of Cochrane.

According to a release, an investigation indicates that a cube van and a car collided head-on around 3:30 p.m.

The male driver of the car was ejected and declared deceased at the scene of the crash.

The male driver of the cube van was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area. Traffic is diverted and the RCMP will remain on the scene until at least 9:30 p.m.
