Christopher Colborne faces charges after a four-year-old girl told her parents that he asked her to fondle him at a northeast Calgary dayhome.

The 40-year-old man lives at the address and is the husband of the dayhome operator, CBC News has confirmed.

The incident is alleged to have occurred some time between September 2014 and February 2015 in Coventry Hills.

As part of his release conditions, Colborne can not live in his home because he is not allowed to be in the presence of anyone under the age of 16 — including his own four-year-old child.

Police say Colborne's wife, who is the dayhome operator, is not co-operating with investigators.

"It's frustrating," said child abuse unit Staff Sgt. Melanie Oncescu. "We want to be able to speak with families that attend the dayhome and have an understanding of their experiences there."

Dayhome operator not co-operating, say police

Oncescu says police have not ruled out laying charges against the operator.

Officials are trying to contact parents who may have had children attending the dayhome and are asking anyone with information to call 403-266-1234.

Colborne is accused of having sexual contact with the girl when the two were alone. The man faces charges of invitation to sexual touching with a child under 16 and sexual interference.

The Calgary police child abuse unit is leading the investigation.

The husband of another dayhome operator was charged in February with sexual interference after a four-year-old boy told his parents he was fondled at a private day home in Rocky Ridge.
