The construction of an interactive sculpture set for Calgary's Barb Scott Park in the city's southwest is now underway.

The interactive sculpture, called Chinook Arc, began Monday and will be unveiled to the public on June 13.

“This has been a great collaboration with the Beltline communities. We all believe it will contribute greatly to Barb Scott Park, becoming a favourite gathering place in the community while at the same time providing interest for Calgarians driving along 12th Avenue S.W.,” said culture manager Sarah Iley in a release.

“Using colour and light, Chinook will encourage residents and park visitors to engage and interact with their environment in a meaningful and fun way.”

The $370,000 public art piece was conceptualized and produced by artist team Creative Machines.

The park is located at the intersection of 12th Avenue and Ninth St. S.W.
