Calgary woman pleads for return of lost phone
iPhone contains cherished text messages from dead father
A Calgary woman is begging the public to be on the lookout for her lost iPhone containing precious text messages from her dead father.
Caity Horosko, 21, thinks she dropped her teal-covered iPhone when she got out of a vehicle at the Bowglen Medical Centre Monday.
She hasn’t been able to find it since, leading her to post a heartfelt ad on the popular classified website Kijiji called, "Wanted: Lost iPhone. Lost memories. Broken heart."
"My iPhone had the last text messages my dad ever sent me, saved on it," Horosko writes. "Yes, I've been beating myself up for not backing them up, but regardless, those are memories that I can't get back."
"And on days when I felt like there wasn't a point, reading through those texts kept me going. His words made me remember how lucky I am to have had such an amazing person in my life."
Garry Horosko, 58, died in February of a sudden heart attack.
Caity said her dad made a point of sending her a message every day. Some just said I love you, some playfully contained photos of his dinner.
"I remember, I don't know why, I think because of school, I was really, really stressed out and worried and I was talking about it to him and I remember him saying something like, ‘You got tough skin like your papa, but you've got a big heart like your papa too,‘" Horosko said.
Horosko is asking anyone who might have picked up her phone to get in contact with her through her Kijiji ad.
