Couple charged with murder in drug-related death of their Winston Heights roommate

Calgary police have laid murder charges against two people in connection with the death of a man whose body was found two days after it's believed he was killed.

Police are asking the public for help as they investigate

Calgary police have laid murder charges against two people in connection with the death of a man whose body was found two days after it's believed he was killed.

Allen McCabe, 32, and Megan Springstead, 33, each face a charge of first-degree murder in the death of Mahmoud Ahmid Aburashed, 58.

Police believe the motive is connected to a drug debt.

Springstead and McCabe were dating. Police say the couple lived with Aburashed.

Aburashed's body was discovered in a Winston Heights home in the 400 block of 28th Avenue N.E. around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 15.

Police have not released how he died.

Springstead's lawyer Tonii Roulston says her client was arrested Friday and will next appear in court on Jan. 6.
