Road closure survival guide for Calgary Stampede parade

The 107th Calgary Stampede parade is coming up on Friday, and crews are busy getting things ready. 

Putting on North America's second-largest parade involves lots of road closures and temporary parking restrictions in the city's core.

Here's how the official kickoff to the Calgary Stampede is going to affect you on Thursday and Friday:

Road closures as of 7:30 a.m. on Friday:

• The connector from Bow Trail to westbound Fifth Avenue S.W. will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. only.
• Ninth Avenue from 10th Street S.W. to Eighth Street S.E.
• Tenth Street S.W. from Sixth Avenue to Ninth Avenue.
• Sixth Avenue from Sixth Street S.E. to 10th Street S.W.
• Riverfront Avenue between First Street S.E. and Third Street S.E.
• Many roads in East Village and around Fort Calgary will be closed for parade staging.
• Sixth Street S.E. between Seventh Avenue and Ninth Avenue S.E.
• Fifth Street S.E. between Ninth Avenue and roundabout at Seventh Avenue.
• Sixth Avenue S.E. between Fourth and Fifth Street S.E.
• Seventh Avenue S.E. between Fourth and Fifth Street S.E.
• Eighth Avenue S.E. between Fourth Street and Sixth Street S.E.

Parking restrictions starting Thursday evening:

Parking restrictions will be in effect from 6 p.m. on July 4 until 3 p.m. on July 5 on these roads:

• Sixth Street S.E. between Eighth Avenue S.E. and Ninth Avenue.
• Sixth Street S.W. between Sixth Avenue and Ninth Avenue S.W. (west side).
• Seventh Street S.W. between Sixth Avenue and Ninth Avenue S.W. (east side).
• Seventh Street S.W. between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue S.W. (west side).
• Seventh Street S.W. between Eighth Avenue and Ninth  Avenue S.W. (west side).
• Ninth Street S.W. between Seventh Avenue and Ninth Avenue S.W. (east side).
• Ninth Street S.W. between Sixth Avenue and Ninth Avenue S.W. (west side).
• Centre Street S. between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue S.W. (west side).
