Calgary Police seek suspects in home invasion, seniors beating
'It's senseless,' detectives say of brutal attack on elderly couple
Calgary Police and Crime Stoppers have re-enacted a home invasion and beating that left an elderly couple with life-altering injuries. Investigators hope anyone with more information will come forward.
A pair of thieves broke into a Thorncliffe home early on the morning of December 18. The men demanded money and jewelry and attacked the senior couple before fleeing.

"Before this happened, both my parents, in their 70s, were strong self-reliant people," said Ada, daughter of the victims, "both are still traumatized, having nightmares and feel unsafe in their own home."
Her father is weak and struggles to walk, while her mother has already had facial reconstructive surgery and is awaiting more surgery to repair vision in one of her eyes.
"[They] get up in the morning and they're scared to walk into the kitchen, they're scared to hear noises in their house and they're not sleeping. It's been tough on them."
Investigators believe the attack was targeted, but aren't clear exactly how.
"Certainly, with this being known in the community, people are going to be looking over their shoulders because we don't know the exact motive and the exact relationship, so we don't know if it's truly random or truly targeted," said Det. Steve Adair with the robbery unit.
He says he's not sure what type of weapon was used.
"It's senseless," said Adair.
Police have a couple of persons of interest but are looking for two suspects. One is Caucasian, in his late 20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a blue and white bandana across his face during the home invasion.
The second man is described as Caucasian, in his early 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He was also wearing a bandana over his face.
The family is hoping any arrests or charges will bring them closure.
"We need to find these people that are responsible for this horrible crime," said Ada.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service Robbery Unit 403-428-8787 or Crime Stoppers.
