Calgary Remand Centre on lockdown after disturbance

The Calgary Remand Centre was on lockdown Friday afternoon after a disturbance among inmates.

The facility accommodates male and female inmates who are awaiting trial or transfer, as well as parolees whose parole has been suspended or revoked.

The situation affected some court cases, as transfers to and from the jail were suspended. 

Inmates in the cells at the Calgary Courts Centre were kept there while the incident was dealt with.
