Police say two young girls did the right thing by running to their school and telling a teacher after seeing a man performing an indecent act Tuesday morning.

The two girls, believed to be 10 years old, were walking in the school field near a bus stop at Huntwick Way and 78 Ave. N.E. when they saw a man masturbating while standing outside a white truck.

The man made a vulgar comment to the girls before they ran inside and told a teacher.

"That's exactly what we want children to do when they encounter any uncomfortable action like that," said Sgt. Duane Lepchuk.

"Be it a stranger or a vehicle pulling up beside them."

Lepchuk said parents should talk with their kids about what to do if they encounter a situation where they feel unsafe.

The man is described as wearing grey pants, a grey shirt and a grey baseball cap. A description of the truck was not available.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
