Police released a photo of the woman from the night before she was found dead
Calgary police are asking the public for information after a 58-year-old Calgary woman was found dead in a northeast park.
They said a citizen found a body on Thursday morning at Deerfoot Athletic Park.
Following an autopsy Friday, the woman's death was ruled a homicide. She was identified as Judy Maerz.
On Saturday the Calgary police homicide unit released a CCTV image of Maerz from Wednesday evening, and are asking anyone who may recognize her to come forward.
In an updated statement released Monday, police issued a request for CCTV footage from Renfrew and Mayland Heights residents and business owners for the following routes between 2 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Thursday:
- 8th Avenue N.E. from 19 Street N.E. to Edmonton Trail
- 19 Street N.E. from 16 Avenue N.E. to Memorial Drive N.E.
- Russet Road from 8th Avenue to 16 Avenue N.E.
- 6th Street from 8th Avenue to 16 Avenue N.E.
- Edmonton Trail from 8th Avenue to 16 Avenue N.E.
- 10 Street N.E. from 8th Avenue to First Avenue N.E.
Police had previously stated they were seeking dashcam footage from anyone who drove northbound on Deerfoot Trail between Memorial Drive and 16 Avenue N.E. Thursday between 4 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. They said Monday they continue to seek footage.
"We have been making progress in piecing together Judy's final activities through tips and information from the public and her associates," Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary police homicide unit said in a news release.
"CCTV and dashcam footage have been critical in helping us narrow down our timeline of events leading up to the morning of Feb. 16, and we are asking for more video from the public to be able to complete the puzzle."
On Friday, police said they were interviewing Maerz's friends and associates to determine her recent activity.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234, tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
